Q & A
How old are you?
20
Did you go to TCBC as a camper? If so, how many years?
Yes I did! I was a camper for 2 years
How did you decide on your camp name?
I decided on my camp name because I was born in an African country called Swaziland. I thought since that was a fun fact I should make it my name at camp.
Do you ever wish people called you by your camp name outside of camp?
I always get called my camp name outside of camp and I love it!
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I want to be an elementary teacher specifically I wanna teach 3rd to 5th grade but I’d be happy for anything. That has always been a dream of mine and now I get to go to college to study it!
What's your favorite activity at camp?
I really love Activity time because as a camper those games were always my favorite.
What is one of your favorite camp songs?
I love the song Let Us Adore but I also really like there’s Another In The Fire..
What is your favorite camp skit?
For a silly skit I love the blue troll skit because its just fun to see what the staff come up with. For a serious skit I love the sin box skit because it shows how we try to do different things to get out of sin but we can’t do it without Jesus.
What is your favorite game we play at camp?
Hands down Wells Fargo.
How has your life been transformed by working at camp?
I think that my life has changed greatly since working at camp! I think one thing that has been the biggest change in my relationship with Jesus has been that I have found a greater appreciation for my quiet time with Him. I think before I thought it was just something that you SHOULD do not NEED to do. After camp though I realized that you really need to have a personal time with Jesus because it’s like any other relationship, you need to put in time and effort in order to grow closer together.
What has God been teaching you lately?
I think that this summer God was really teaching me to trust Him with my desires and rest in the fact that He knows what He is doing. Although I’m pretty sure that every staff member could say this every summer but this year was a special year in that there were a lot of unknowns. This forced me to REALLY rely on Jesus to get me through each and every day.
What is your favorite place at TCBC? Why?
I definitely love the canoe docks but I think that the GO Kart barn is one of my favorite places because its just so peaceful and you just the beauty of the world from that one spot. There’s also never a ton of people up there so it’s a nice place to just sit with Jesus and just relax a little. It’s also a great star gazing spot.
How many years have you worked at camp?
I have worked at TCBC for about 5 years!
What jobs have you had at camp?
I have been on Crew, a CIT for two summers, a counselor and Girls Counseling Dean.
What was your latest job at camp?
My latest job at camp was being the girls counseling dean and it was so much fun!
What do you love about your job!
I loved helping the counselors and just being there for them when they needed me. I also just really loved the counselor girls and that it was my job to hang out with them. They are all really cool people.
What makes working at camp so fun?
The first thing that I think really makes camp so much fun would be Jesus of course! The second thing would be the people that you get to work with because we are all there with one purpose which is to serve Jesus and campers.
Would you recommend working at camp to someone? Why?
100000000%!! If you have never worked at camp before I would highly recommend it because of how much it grows your relationship with Jesus, the friendships you make, the memories you make, and the growth that you as a person go through. I would never trade my experience at camp for anything else.
